Lunch and Learns
Our events aim to have 6-8 attendees so you can ask questions and share information with other like-minded people, not be just another number.

We've started holding small group informative events focused on business technology topics that are relevant to New Zealand organisations. These came about because in takling to organisation about improving their ICT systems we often found that there was a lack of knowledge on new technology developments and a fear of admitting to not understanding, coupled with a dissatisfaction with the large hyped up events run by vendors where there is big American-style push, and most attendees don't feel comfortable asking questions in front of so many other people. Our events aim to have 6-8 attendees so you can ask questions and share information with other like-minded people, and the presenters can make sure that you do understand the information - after all we want you to fully grasp the topic so that you can make an informed decision on whether the technology suits your needs now or in the future.
Latest Event: Wednesday October 20th 2010 - Wireless for Business Use - The Myths, The Challenges, The Future
With the advent of 802.11n wireless networks have taken a big leap forward but many businesses are confused over how it can be applied and are caught up in myths and out of date information. We'll look at where wireless has come from, where it is at now, and what the near future holds, taking into account:
- Speed
- Security
- Convergence
- Performance Issues
- The differences between 802.11 a/b/g and n.
Barriers remain to broader Wireless LAN adoption in businesses because a gap can arise between the expectation of the wireless network's performance and security environment, and the reality that end users experience. Overcoming this gap is possible with the right tools and design.
At this Lunch and Learn you will be able to find out how wireless has changed and why your wireless should work better. If you're using wireless bring along the details of what your setup is and what the challenges are so that it can be discussed and areas for improvement whiteboarded. If you're not using wireless because you don't think it's good enough then tell us about what is unique about your environment and find out what could be achieved.
This event is being held from 11:30am - 1pm on Wednesday October 20th at ICT Worldwide's offices - Level 3, 4 Newton Road, Grey Lynn (corner Abbey St and Newton Road). Click here for parking instructions.
